European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to put 15 mln. euro to public utility company “Zhytomyr heating municipal energy company” for energy saving technologies and reconstruction of heating communications in Zhytomyr. EBRD plans to give a credit for 7% per annum with 3-year delay of payment and 5 mln. euro of grant costs from European governments. Date of transaction will be announced later.

According to certain forecasts, after adoption of new technologies, cost saving of Zhytomyr budget will make up to 1,5 mln. euro annually.

According to EDRD representatives, Zhytomyr will be the first city in Ukraine, that will get costs from a special fund, that was created by European governments for implementation of energy saving technologies in Eastern Europe. “We have made great efforts to get financing for renovation of heating communications and installation of energy efficient equipment at our boiler plants”, – claimed Vira Sheludchenko, Zhytomyr city mayor.
